Feeling the need to organize my Sewing

I have kept up on my UFO
projects for the last 4 months...
Yeah Me!

I am feeling the need to organize
my list into a set month projects
instead of picking a project at
the beginning of each month.

Here is my remaining eight
projects for 2018:

May: 24 House Village

June: Pieceville Village

July: Pinetree Quilt

August: BOM Star blocks

September: Preprinted Pinwheel

October: Black n' White with a Zinger

November: Scrap Bowtie

December: Purple Pinwheel

Bring on the creating!

April 2018 UFO goal

For the month of April,
I set the goal to finish out
some more blocks for my
Ode to the 30's Sampler.

I have sewn all the 3", 6" and
9" blocks that are pieced.

Now I am moving on to the
pieced blocks that also have
some added applique.

I completed these two blocks

I plan to add button centers to
each of the flowers after I
have completed the quilt top.

I still have 6 more blocks to
sew for a complete top.

I am linking up to

and
Elm Street Quilts

Monday Design Wall

Welcome to a rainy cool Monday!

On my design wall...well,
more like in the kitchen....
I am dyeing muslin today.

I tied in some glass marbles
to see what kind of
dye patterns I will come out with.

I started heating the water then
add 10 black tea bags.

I am not a tea drinker and the
tutorials I watched said to use
black or breakfast tea. The black
tea was less expensive, so that's
what I purchased.

I am going to dry out the tea
bags and also use them in
my art quilts.

I am going to try and get another
quilt block finished for my
April UFO goal too. Nothing
like the last minute....

I will link over to
for Design Wall Monday.

Slow Stitch Sunday

I am starting a new
hand stitched project.

I have been invited to show
two Art quilts at the
this upcoming October.

One of my projects is going
to be a recycle-upcycle piece.

The photo is color catcher sheets
(used in the laundry to catch
color out of clothes)
I asked friends to use a color
catcher sheet, then return it to me.

The sheets are light gray to pinks
to blues to browns to greenish back.

I am going to cut out circles and
hand embroider them to batiks

I am also going to add recycled
tea bags. Here is a quick article on
one way to do it.

What are you slow stitching today?

They help each other, as well
as others around them.

Day 1 of Kid Clothes Week program

This years theme for KCW
is FRESH.

For my first day of sewing,
I made a new dress using
an old pattern.

I made a butterfly cotton print
dress for my granddaughter, CC.
I used the same pattern a few
years ago for another KCW
for her older sister, M.

I still have a pile of fabric
to make more girl clothes,
which is a good thing,
since I have 7 granddaughters!

Design Wall and Kid Clothes Week

I am combining my Monday
Design Wall with my Spring
Kid Clothes Week project.

I have not been part of the
for a few years. This years
theme is "Fresh".

My take on the theme is
revising the old patterns I
used for my daughters and
giving them a new look for
the granddaughters.

I have 7 granddaughter, so I
have the option of lots of
sewing and creating....

This is a photo of a dress I made
for my granddaughter M for the
KCW project 6 years ago. I
would like to take the pattern
and make something new
for her little sister C.

I have an overflow of patterns
to choose from.
 My goal is
to sew each pattern, then
donate the pattern on to
someone new. Cleaning out!

My Design Wall Monday is my BOM
star blocks. I have already sewn
my April block, but I need to
re-sew a couple of earlier blocks.
I changed the background fabric
after the first 2 blocks, so they
need to be re-done.

Slow Sunday Stitching

What a beautiful day!
The Sun is shining and
the weather is so warm.
I think Spring has finally sprung!

Happy Earth Day!

I posted earlier in the week about
stepping away for being online
so much...mainly Facebook.
I have been surprised how easy
it has been to use my time in
other ways.

For my Slow Sunday Stitch today
I will be working on a partially
finished cross stitch project.

More fish to stitch and outline.

This week creating goals:

1.Re-stitch two BOM star blocks. I
started the project with a different
background and need to change
the fabric in the first two blocks.

2. Complete some more blocks for
my April UFO project-vintage quilt.

3.Cut out and sew some clothing for
Grandchildren as part of the Spring
The theme is "Fresh"

This week:16-22 April

This week is going to be spent
at home doing two major chores:

1.Cleaning out closets and Studio

2.Working on many small projects

I am in the process of losing weight
and cleaned out my closet of loose
and multiple piece clothing.

How many pairs of sweat pants
do I really need to work out in?
How many pair of shorts do I
really need to wear over my
swimming suit  in the pool?

Four bags of clothing...so far!

Next up, cleaning out my sewing-
quilting-knitting projects...on my!

On my design wall....

I will be sewing the April star block
from my LQS Block of the Month.
The finished quilt will be part
of a fundraiser in November for
our local Women-children shelter.

I have decided to step away from
Facebook, so I will be posting here
a little more over the next few weeks.

Besides Ted Talks, do you have a
informative-positive online source
you can recommend to me?

This weeks design wall

My Design Wall is currently
under  construction. It has been
sheet rocked and taped, but not
painted, so photos are from
my couch.

This week, I am going to finish
hand sewing my
Trip Around the World project.

I am down to the last 22 squares
of the double red border.

This has been a four year project
that I originally began with the
Bridgitte Giblin Facebook group.

My Traditional Quilt Guild is having
a sew-in all day tomorrow at the
local Rec Center, so I am taking
this project with me, along with
maybe another one or two projects.

Slow Stitch Sunday

 I enjoy
going thrifting, but have
not been doing it lately,
since we have been
cleaning out our Home.
I did not want to add
to the piles.

Husband and I went this
last Saturday and I found
a few goodies.

First, I found a copy of
the pattern my Mom used
to make my Prom dress,
back in the day. I still have
my original pattern and dress.

 I also found some sweet
little girl patterns. With
7 granddaughters from
toddler to teen, I can always
use a new fun pattern to sew.

I am signed up for the
Kids Clothes Week Challenge.
It has be a couple of years
since I did the challenge.
It runs the last week of
April for Spring-Summer sewing.

We have had many days of
rain, so I have spent some time
inside knitting. This is the beginning
of my first sweater.

The pattern is called Mallard.
I am knitting it up in a color
called Tidal....blues, greens
and a grayish brown.. I am
a slow knitter, so hopefully it
will be done by Winter time!

I am down to hand sewing my
last 20 squares on my
Trip Around the World top.

I am SO close to finishing....

What are you sewing today?

Slow Stitch Sunday

Happy Easter to you and yours!

I am returning to my
Trip Around the World project

I have been working on it off
and on for nearly four years.

I started it as part of a group
project on Facebook.

It has been a relaxing
take along project to do
in between other big projects

I had planned to have the top
finished so I could hand
quilt it this last Winter, but

you know how plans change!

What are you stitching today?

April UFO PROJECT

For April, I have chosen
to work on my Vintage
quilt top.

I have about 2/3 of the blocks
finished. The other third are ones that
are pieced with applique added.

I am not setting a specific goal
of how many blocks I will finish,
but just that I make some
progress on it during April.

I will be linking up to
