Grandma's Iris

I love to see beautiful gardens!

Flowers of every kind.

Texture and colors all blending together.

But...I dislike yard work!
I stick to easy plants, like bulbs,
that keep coming back year after year after year....

These are my Grandmothers Iris bulbs.

She started her garden in Idaho
with them in the 1930's....
then transplanted them into
her garden in Utah in the 1940's.
When she passed on and her
house was being sold, I
dug up some bulbs and transplanted
them to my first home in the 1990's.
The bulbs then came with us to our current
home.

I love Iris bulbs...
you just know they are going to bloom
each and every Spring!

Sewing and crocheting for Charity

I have gotten back to crocheting big time
the last few months.
I have also begun to learn to knit.

Tuesday, the following will be mailed out...

Crocheted baby and Adult hats

Baby Dresses

Store bought baby & children hats, and

cup coasters (for their volunteers)

I've enjoyed crocheting all the baby things
and using up more yarn.

Do you have a charity you creative for?

Last of this years QOV quilts

I have the privilege of living in
a community near a military base.
I also have numerous family members
who have served in the USA military services.

QOV (Quilts of Valor) is an important
military support group that I donate
quilts to every year.

Today, as part of the Memorial Day weekend,
I made my last QOV quilt for 2012.

My 2012 goal of not purchasing
any fabric-patterns-yarn
makes it so I no longer have
enough red-white-blue fabrics to make a quilt.

One of my first purchases
on January 1, 2013
will be lots of patriotic fabrics
for many QOV quilts in 2013!

What are you reading?

I'm in a reading slump!

I have a book list on my Nook,
just waiting for me to pick a new title,
but nothing sounds super interesting right now.

So...what are you reading?
