Christmas in July Beginning

I have spent my Spring day cutting out the fabric for
my Christmas in July quilt.
When I first thought about this project I thought I would have a hard time
getting in the Christmas mood in the middle of warm weather...
Never fear..it's Springtime in Utah!
That means that yesterday could be temps in the 60's
But today it is snowing on the garden my Hubby just planted.
Thank goodness he only planted the cold weather veggies-potato, okra and peas!

I have 45 red blocks cut out and have begun to put them together.
As you can see, I am not using a traditional Christmas block.
I sure love my red tho!

Christmas in July project

My Syracuse (Utah) Quilt Chapters summer Quilt competition is titled
"Christmas in July"
Each quilter is to make a Christmas related quilt-wallhanging-table runner.
When I retired as Chapter President last December, all the ladies got together
and gave me a huge gift bag of red fabric fat quarters!
I love the color red!!!
I pulled out this pinwheel pattern with template that I also got last Christmas
My background fabric is a cream small leaf print.
I have also purchased a tan/brownish circle print, as well as a med-dark green leaf print.
As you can tell, I am not a traditional Christmas person, since I will be using all shades of red.
Looking forward to seeing how this all comes together!

Stashbusting Report

No new sewing this last week, tho I did get a good start on cutting out my
"Christmas in July" project.
I am using all the different Red fabrics the ladies of my Quilt Chapter gave me
when I retired as Chapter President in December.
I need to get more organized and do some sewing more regularly!

Sewing is so relaxing for me....
We're having a baby boom here in Clinton, Utah, so I made some more baby flannel quilts

Look what I found in the mail!

I haven't ordered from a catalog or online for quilt related things for about 2 years.
I decided to try and use up and clean out and do with what I already had in my studio.
Finally realized I should help the economy and ordered the items below from Keepsake Left: Train cut outs for a new quilt for my grandson, who at 2 years old, is crazy about Choo-Choos.
Right: Stars in various yellow fabrics for my Syracuse (Utah) Quilt Chapters "Christmas in July" challenge. Still not exactly sure what I'm doing for this project, but know I want lots of Stars in it.
