Fabric stash report

Nothing new to report..
The little sewing I did was for charity
and they provided the fabric
Hope you had a better week than me!

I have come down to my last button....

...Almost!
Last year I tried to use up as many buttons and thread
as I did fabric during my fabric busting project. I did pretty good with the fabric,
excellent with the thread,
(I had thread passed down from my Mom
that was at least 40 years old)
and today, I realized
that I have nearly run out of buttons!
I still have a big jar of singular buttons
all different sizes and colors,
but no matching white buttons for this jumper!
Time to go to the store.....

a silly photo of my grandson.
We are working on potty training,
but this particular day he wanted to wear a diaper,
with the his elmo underwear on the outside...
He's just very fashion forward!

Working on the fabric stash

I spent a rainy day this week going thru my children's pattern's
and fabric stash to sew
dresses for a charity group out of Africa. Made this jumper...
If the photo was clearer you could see cute little
teddy bears playing across the red background
I used this Simplicity 9829 I have had for 20 years.
Purchased it when my oldest daughter was in 1st grade
and my youngest daughter was a newborn.
I've sewn lots of jumpers from this pattern.
The paper pattern pieces are falling apart.
Do you have a fav pattern you just keep using
over and over and over.....?

48 Patterns...all for $17

I went to our local Saver's store today
and hit the Pattern load...
48 patterns for $17!
I'm keeping 45 of the them for my own use,
plus one to a friend and two will probably get donated back.
There's alot of photos...get comfortable! Women's multi piece patterns sizes 6-16.
I like the upper right shrug pattern for my upcoming cruise.
Men's and unisex shorts and sweats patterns.
Good basic patterns even if the models fabric is scary!

Women's dresses..never know when you'll go to a Hoe Down!
Women's Maternity, PJ's and Plus sizes (for me)
Children's-back row for the granddaughters
Front row 1970's vintage basics.
Adults costumes
Children's costumes

Aprons and purses..the purse pattern is going to a friend!
Wow...you made it all the way to the end!
I also got a purse (I know, I have an addiction!)
A scarf, that I'll use in a landscape quilt
4 hats for the grandson to wear on vacation
and a Summer long robe with the original tags on it.
It's been a good shopping day!

Little tiny gowns for premies!

I've been sewing burial gown's for little babies this week.
They are for a organization that provides a gift
for parents who lose their precious baby at birth.
The package includes a gown and small quilt
to bury the baby in, plus a small box for the parents
to keep a lock of hair and a photo in.
We lost our son, Timothy, 26 + years ago.
I wish there had been a wonderful group like this then for us.

Ugly Boot day

Yeah, it's an ugly boot but, it holds my foot together without a hard cast!
Maybe I should sew some kind of fancy covering to spice it up....

Today wasn't a good day!

My daughters cat got very sick the last couple of days... and we had to put her to sleep this morning.
We'll miss you, Izzy the Devil Kitty!

If I have to be trapped in the house...

......I might as well be productive!
I'm suppose to be sitting with my foot up
which is hard to do at the sewing machine,
so I decided to crochet myself a warm shawl for next Winter.
I haven't crocheted in about 25 years,
but it came back to me really quickly.
The yarn is called Lion Brand Yarn
Homespun Prairie #335
The shawl is modeled by my daughters friend.

Is it broken.....

Yes it is....
I hit my left foot on the bottom of the door
of my sewing room this morning.
Broke my two little toes and up into my arch
Crutches and bootie cast for the next 4 weeks.
Owie!

What a wonderful weekend!

I am a Mom and Grandma, but
I don't enjoy celebrating Mother's Day.
Don't ask why...the reasons are too long to list....
This year, my Hubby was nice and took me away
for a nice weekend....
(I loaded the photos backwards so.....) We got home in time to see our granddaughters before their Mom picked them up.
My son is a great Dad...it's hard when you only get them a couple of weekends a month!
We drove thru Coalville(Utah)-this is Echo Dam.
Stopped to stretch our legs at the rest stop
on I-80 highway going back into Utah from Evanston Wyoming.
My phone camera doesn't show the
massive size of the red cliffs of the high desert.

Our room for Saturday at the Hampton.
I love their soft cozy King size beds
And the breakfast on Sunday was wonderful!

I worked at the Home Machine Quilting Show
in the Quilts of Valor (QOV) booth.
I had a couple of hours to wander the quilt show
and vendors booths.
I bought this paintstik kit.
I'm looking forward to using it on a couple of landscape quilts!

Okay, so that was completely backwards....sorry!

Hope you had a great weekend too.

Rediscovering an old love

I took piano lessons as a little child.
I played for family,
for concerts and
for Church.
When my own children got old enough,
I got them piano lessons too.
Then one day, I just stopped playing.
There are many reasons why I did, which really don't matter now.
I decided it was time to start playing again.
The music man came and tuned our piano today.
It sounds wonderful!
