Scarf completed

I finished the scarf.
I can't tell you the name of the stitch
because I saw it on the "Knit and Crochet Today" show
and when I went to their website I couldn't find it.

It took just one skein.
I love red!

Children's Sewing Project

I made the commitment to sew each day for at least an hour
on children's clothes.
Unfortunately, I am really bad about
blogging and keeping up on the photos.

I've made two dress from the same pattern for the Granddaughters.
They wouldn't hold still for me to photo them,
so you get a photo of one of the dresses on a hanger.

I used Butterick 4176.
The material was free material someone gave me.

New Frog Quilt photos

I just turned in the Frog Quilt for the upcoming
Utah Quilt Guild Fest.
It is being held at the Zermott Resort in Heber in October.

I tried to take better photos of the quilt before I turned it in
because I may still enter it into the
Road to California show and I need a photo with the entry form.
Everyone seems to like the wild backing almost as much as the front.
I try and use up any fabric leftovers by making my own backings.

I enjoyed doing the paper pieced frogs,
but I'm ready to go back to some landscape quilts again.

Blog Hop!

I found a new new blog hop that looks fun, so I thought I would share...

I found it thru Gudrun...enjoy!

I WILL sew today!

I joined the children's clothing sew-in at
for this week...

I choose these patterns for my Granddaughters.
We are going into Fall/Winter, but they both
like to wear skirts and jumpers year round,
so I'll just pick heavier weight fabrics.
The sew-in rule: some sewing related activity 1 hour per day
for 7 days in a row.

Today, I went shopping at Saver's (2nd hand store)
and found these two new-uncut Burda patterns.

I've never sewn with Burda patterns before.
Any tips or suggestions?
I'd like to do the long sleeve jacket for me
and a couple of shirts for the Hubby.

I nearly have my scrap box cleaned out

I cut all my scraps into squares or strips.
The squares range from 2.5-6.5 inches.
The strips width are from 2-3.5 inches.

I seem to be having a burst of sewing energy this week....
I better keep it rolling along!

I forgot...

I usually post my weekly goals with my Stash report,
but I forgot this morning.
Head cold meds make me stupid!

The weather is changing!

Fall is in the air!
Cooler nights...leaves are changing their colors....
I seem to get a bustle of creative energy in the Fall.

I love fashion so I have been viewing the latest fashion sites

I like the return to girly suits and skirts.
I have cleaned out my closet and have been
planning some Fall/Winter sewing projects just for me!

So, my goals for 20-27 September:

Make & Create:

Go thru patterns-start one clothing project for me
Finish crocheting the black n' white scarf
Pick up my quilt from State fair-photograph it-send it onto Utah Quilt Fest
Finish cleaning out the scrap fabric box-cut up or throw away-only options

Health & Weight:

Walk 5 days this week
Do assigned exercises everyday
Go to gym/pool 4 day this week
Make 2 new dinner recipes this week

Okay...my goals are out there...
I  know them and you know them

My numbers stay the same this week-

Still have a long way to go to meet
my 2010 goal of 100 yards.
Hopefully Christmas projects will
make up the low numbers!

The weather is cooling off, so I made...

...a new shawl.

I like the colors and it's really soft.
Great for early mornings around the house or
late evenings while reading on the couch.
My Hubby says is looks like something his
Grandma would wear...
Hhmmm...I am a Grandma....lol!
Working on a new crochet project for Fall,
when I can decide what I'm doing!

Utah State Fair 2010...did I win a ribbon?

I went with my friend T to the
Utah State Fair today.
I haven't been to the fair in years.
I was so excited to go to see if
I won a ribbon in the quilt competition.

First,
the animal exhibits/competitions:

We went to see the pigeon displays.
I like birds, and pigeons are birds,
but I usual relate pigeons to messy bird droppings
on my car.
These pigeons were beautiful!

I like this ones curly feathers...so soft!
This one would tip back and it's head would almost disappear.
I got this photo when it leaned forward again-instant umbrella!
This one had it own high collar-very pretty!
The sheep had just begun to be delivered from the farms...very noisy!
All the piggies were asleep...some were snoring!

We moved onto the home and creative arts buildings.

This is my froggy quilt! The official title is
"Hopping in the Big Pond of Life"
The picture is not the greatest, but I did win....
3rd place in the
Advanced quilter-small quilt division.
I was pretty excited!

Other displays were hand dyed yarns, which were absolutely beautiful, plus

Costuming...didn't know about this sewing division.
Maybe I'll enter that division next year!
One last close up photo of one of my frog blocks!

I had a wonderful day-
walked about 5 miles-
ate part of a funnel cake, some apple chips
(with caramel, of course) and a large Taco salad!

It was a lovely day!

Has anyone seen my comment button?

I don't know why, but it has disappeared from my post.
If you want to leave a comment
put your pointer over my the date
at the end of my post and you will see
the word "comment"

I'm trying to fix it!

Salt Lake Farmer's Market

Yesterday, Hubby and I went to the
Salt Lake Farmers Market.
I had wanted to go for some time,
but couldn't justify driving the 30 miles South
when we have a nice farmers market just North about 10 miles.
Since we were already going South
to drop off my quilt at the fair grounds,
we decided to go to the downtown Market.

I'm glad we did...I love farmers markets!
The sounds and smells and people and energy!

This guy had an upright piano on a small trailer
that he towed behind his bike.
Exercise and making a few bucks off his musical talent
all in one swoop!

My Hubby is a woodworker and a motorcycle enthusiast,
so this Harley rocking toy caught his eye.
The Maker of this toy is a Contractor/Builder who lost work
when the economy drop out, so he created a new career for himself.

We bought lots of fresh produce,
trying to concentrate on items we had never eaten before.
Heirloom tomatoes and eggplant are on the menu today,
if I can figure out how to fix the eggplant.....

Fabric Stashbusting Report

Wow...finally a stash busting to report!

I finished my froggy quilt,
had it quilted by a great friend, Diane
and it is now at the
Utah State Fair grounds
waiting to be judged.

Wish I had a good photo of the full quilt
but I managed to not get it.
Above is a not-so-great picture of one block.
I promise...more photos later.

Fabric out this week: 8 yards
