Upcoming class

I've been busy dyeing fabric and clothing
for use as samples in a dyeing class I am teaching soon.

This was originally a white jacket I got at WalMart
on clearance for a few dollars.

I did a little tye dye treatment to it.

Next...maybe some stencil spraying or embroidery...or both.

I also dyed some white fabric to pink,
that will probably go into a Pink Cancer Quilt.

Still busy sewing for my granddaughter....

She is due to arrive in about 19 days...if my daughter makes it that long...

I am the guest seamstress at

Yes, I am confessing to a article of clothing I made
that qualifies for a Ugly Amnesty!

You'll love the blog...it's amazing!

Elephants...a family tradition

Back in the 1920's my Grandmother
designed a stuffed Elephant pattern.
She was trying to win a sewing contest.
I think she came in third and won $5
(at least that's the family legend)

She started making an elephant for each new family baby...

and a family tradition was begun!

Pictured is my daughter's E elephant I made in the 1980's
next to my elephant made by my Mom in the 1960's
They have both been well loved...and need repairs.

I have made a Elephant for Granddaughter May 2011
and one is cut out for Granddaughter June 2011.
Unfortunately, I can't show them to you.
My daughters both read my blog.

Thought I would throw in a shot of Boomer the cat.

Help request from blogland

I read this post on Micki's blog-Irish Muses:

"Lola, who was one of my stars for April, just wrote me and asked me a favor. Her grandson Zavier is having chemotherapy and radiation on a tumor that is on his spine. She told me that get well cards would lift his spirit, so of course, Joe and I will be sending him one tomorrow. If you know Lola, and you would like to send her grandson a card, here is the information:"

Zavier Green
Room #6311
c/o Monroe Carrell Jr Children’s
Hospital at Vanderbilt
2200 Children’s Way
Nashville, TN 37232

I don't know Lola or her grandson, but wanted to pass on the info too. If you could send a postcard from your part of the World with a get well message, it would definitely make him feel better.

Thanks Blogland!

Fabric Stash report

Same old...same old.

This week I stayed in with my Husband,
who is recovering from surgery.

Did some handiwork and lots of mending.

I will jump back into life again soon...

How did you do?

I'm back..in more ways than one...

First, I am back to blog land, after computer problems.

Second, I am back from a mini vacation.
Husband and I decided to go away for a couple of days,
before he has surgery this week.

We went to Salt Lake
to the Family History Library
and spent a Saturday doing Family History/Genealogy research.

I scored and found some great records
that take the research of my bio male people
from 1930's New York State, USA back 11 generations to 1600's England.

Husband didn't do so well.....

We tried a new restaurant called Tuscina

Yeah...my Husband brought back leftovers to the Inn!
Biggest calazone I have ever seen...and very yummy!

We stopped by the LDS Church Art Museum
to see the Women's quilt show that just opened this week.

I misplaced the paper I wrote down the quilt names and artist on...
If I find it, I'll add an update.

Beautiful 3-D flowers on this quilt!

I liked this huge children's design wall.
The museum patrons were encouraged to make patterns
and designs of their own.
A colorful visitor that wanted to share our lunch today.
Isn't he gorgeous!

No changes in my fabric stash busting this week.

Patterns Overflowing....

I went to Saver's and hit the pattern jackpot!

I purchased mostly children's patterns (50 cents each) in size 5 or larger,
since I do not have any for my older granddaughters.
Also found some women's patterns and a couple of vintage patterns.

I need to get the patterns bundled up from last week's giveaway
and in the mail...I promise I haven't forgot you two winners!

Now to find space for all my new patterns....

April's UFO project

Judy choose project #4
for Aprils UFO project to finish.

Number Four on my list is

this wall hanging, that I began many moons ago.
I listed I wanted to put borders on it,
quilt it and have it all finished.

It is cheater fabric I cut into pinwheels.

I am also going to join (late) with 4 other quilters who are doing
Nancy Halvorsen's "Be" blocks.
The ladies started 3 months ago doing it as a BOM,
so I have a little catching up to do.
My Husband is having surgery next week,
so I'll have plenty of hand-sewing time during his recovery.

What are some of your April sewing goals?
