Working on the fabric stash

I spent a rainy day this week going thru my children's pattern's
and fabric stash to sew
dresses for a charity group out of Africa. Made this jumper...
If the photo was clearer you could see cute little
teddy bears playing across the red background
I used this Simplicity 9829 I have had for 20 years.
Purchased it when my oldest daughter was in 1st grade
and my youngest daughter was a newborn.
I've sewn lots of jumpers from this pattern.
The paper pattern pieces are falling apart.
Do you have a fav pattern you just keep using
over and over and over.....?

Using up some fabric!

I've done very little sewing for me lately, which was frustrating.
Because of sickness(my daughter and grandson), I didn't babysit yesterday,
so I got in the fabric stash and found this...it was a scrap (20" X 35") someone passed onto me.
I found a white scrap for the backing and a little batting and made a runner for my kitchen table

My Granddaughters were coloring at the table,
so I put it on the familyroom chest of drawers for a photo..it's a little too wide for it tho.
Not Earth shattering, but it felt great to get something done start to finish in an hour.

Girls dress from Men's shirt & other sewing

I've been busy trying to use up some of my fabric stash on sewing projects other than quilts. I inherited my Mom's fabric when she passed on 8 years ago, and am finally beginning to use it up. I made a nightgown for my granddaughter K out of some tricot. Mom use to make nightgowns for my girls, so I thought I'd continue the Grandmother tradition. I have about 7 more pieces of tricot.
Back in the mid 1980's I went to a sewing class at my Aunt A's church. The class showed how to make a little girls dress out of a man's button front shirt. I made both my girls a few dresses from shirts I bought at the Salvation Army.

Well, what's old is new again...on the Wardrobe Refashion blog, lots of the ladies are doing it, so I thought I'd try it again. I found a XL men's button shirt yesterday at Saver's for $2. I cut it so the Zebra design is at the bottom. It came out pretty good, for not doing this is 20 years! I have another solid green colored shirt for a dress for granddaughter H.

Learning a bit of Technology

I got a cell phone this last week & I have been figuring out how to use it. One of the first things I did was try & take a photo of a quilt, naturally. I am not sure how I got the little audio logo on it...it's not on the other photos...oh well, I'll will figure it out some way.
This is the baby quilt I did in solids for the Humanitarian Center in Salt Lake. They asked me to bind two quilts that were already tied, so I threw in my own quilt with them.
I can now comfortably close my box of solid fabrics. Before, the lid wouldn't stay on because it was so jammed with fabric. I am going to keep working on that fabric stash!
