Fall crazy 9-patch finish

Here are the photos I have been promising forever!

I made this quilt for my daughter and her Husband
originally planning to give it to them for their Wedding Anniversary.

A few Anniversaries have come and gone....

One last photo...

I have been having some health problems,
which is causing havoc with my hair and nails and skin.

I am debating about cutting off my hair.
It's just snapping away each time I brush it.

What do you think...any hairdressers out there?
Baby fine wavy hair!

Changes are coming to my life!

I have felt for a while that some changes were coming to my life.

Some of the changes I was trying to make, by exercising and eating correctly and having a better attitude.

Some of the changes I couldn't control, like some health issues I am having-you just have to hang on tight and ride thru the hard times!

I went to Church today and was giving a new Church calling/job....

Really new...something I have never done before!

I am the new choir director!

Yeah...Hubby and I were both a little stunned.

I have secretly played the piano since I was a kid.
Didn't want anyone to know because I have never felt
comfortable playing in front of others...not perfect enough for the public.

I guess I better get use to not-perfect, huh!

Our first performance will be
Sunday, December 19th-the Christmas Program.

We are doing 3 prelude (before the Sacrament Meeting) songs
plus one song between Speakers,
plus we will begin the Closing song with the congregation joining us on the last verse.

I have sang in lots of choirs over the years thru school and Church.

I like being an Indian in the tribe...not the Chief!

What are you making for the Holidays?

Judy at Patchwork Times is having a giveaway.
You can enter by blogging about your creating plans
for your Holiday gift giving.

I have 3 plans:

#1-Grandchildren Aprons

All my children enjoy cooking,
so over the years I have given them
Aprons and Cookbooks.
This year, the grandchildren are going to join the fun!

I found these aprons on clearance at the end of the Summer
Maybe I'll add a little stitching or their names to the apron.

#2-Nativity

Each year I make/purchase a Nativity
or book related to the Christmas story
for each of my children's families.

This year I found this Nativity panel on sale back in the Summer.
There is a little item to attach for each day of December.
I think they will be great for little Grandchildren fingers.
I usually try to have the Nativity gift done for Thanksgiving
so my "super early decorator" children have it ready to go.

#3-Christmas Eve Jammies

I make flannel PJ Bottoms for all my
kids and grand kids every year.
They open their gift on Christmas Eve...
new Jammie's to sleep in!

This year I thought I would change it up a bit
and make nightgowns for the Granddaughters.
Pink flannel is so warm and girly!

What plans are you making?

Take a peek at Judy's blog and
see if someone has something to inspire you!

Finished but not happy

I finished crocheting this purse this week.
I am not happy with it tho

It was a free pattern from Lion Brand Yarn's.
The pattern called for a stiffer, thicker yarn,
but I tried to use up a couple of skeins I got on sale.

I should have followed the yarn suggestion better.
I may make it again.
It was easy and took me just an evening in front of the TV.

Stashbusting Report

I did not do a report last week since we were gone on vacation,
so combining with this week, my totals are:

Fabric used YTD: 93 yards
Fabric used out of stash YTD: 62 yards

I'm going to have to start sewing like
a crazy Mom/Grandma for Christmas
to get my totals up dramatically!

Goals for 10-16 Oct

Health & Weight:

Make a balanced Dinner every night this week
Do all the exercises listed by J daily
Get my sleep schedule back on track

Make & Create:
Decide on next crochet project
Sew nightgowns for Granddaughters
Do the binding on E's quilt
Do the binding on QOV quilt

Hope you have a good week!

What now?

Okay, enough is enough!

We've had one of THOSE weeks
where it seems everything wanted to break...
and did!

We came home from California
to all 3 cars broken.
Thank goodness Hubby and son got 2 running.

Then the house hold appliances decided to revolt

First up-the air conditioner

It was already having problems before we left, so this wasn't a big surprise
When we talked to our Heating/AC guy, he said,
"Well, your furnace isn't working so great either"...so....

We got a new furnace to keep us toasty warm this winter.
They installed a new thermostat too.

My Hubby likes the big numbers he can read without his glasses.
It's going to take a while for me to get use to the
green glow in the dark this thing puts out.

Lastly, the water heater didn't want to be left out, so....

A new 50 gallon water heater was installed yesterday
along with a water softener....
We have really hard water here-a pain to clean off
the tub and sinks.

So, instead of a fabulous vacation
or a new car
or more fabric,
I will be warm and toasty this Winter
and cool and comfy next Summer!

Home again!

I went to my 30th High School Reunion
in Southern California over the weekend

I had a wonderful time!

Hubby and I went to Disneyland on Friday.

Disneyland without children (or being pregnant)
is really fun!
We rode the rides, ate some junk food
and saw some shows

This is the two of us after seeing the Muppet 3-D show.

Saturday, we went to the Manhattan Beach Fair,
where we had ate the traditional Fair pepperbelly, looked at some fabulous art booths,

followed by my reunion.

It was great to see various friends from High School.
I don't think I had seen any of them in the 30 years
since we graduated.
I had a great time catching up.

I missed my fabric stash report,
so I am going to add my fabric usage numbers into next weeks report.
