You fail when you keep trying....

As usual, I always start off the new year
with many goals and plans to
improve and accomplish and progress.

And some of those goals and plans
fall to the side of the road...some I do
finish.

I had plans to finish so many UFO'S
this year, but the first month is nearly
over and that goal has not been reached.

And....that's okay. I have been creating
in other ways...and working on my
health issues...and relationship challenges...

I was going to finish out my
Trip Around the World quilt I am
hand sewing at row 42, but now...

I am not sure. I laid it out on the bed, and it hangs
just to the bottom of the mattress. I will
not ever be making this quilt pattern
again and we may be getting a larger
size bed. I need to think about this....

I started crocheting an altar cloth
for my Temple. I have never done it
before...it is quite relaxing and enjoyable.

The next couple of weeks are going to
be busy with a grandchild
schedule to be born, plus
babysitting of other grandchildren. I
think I am going to be doing some
hand stitching for a while.

What are you creating?

Already half way thru the month?

Goodness, January is just flying by!

I seem to be busy daily all day, every
day, but I don't feel like I am getting
much accomplished....how can that be?
Maybe it will all come to fulfillment
all at once!

Today for
be cutting out my final
red and white dot row of squares
to finish my Trip around the World.

It will be row 42 of the quilt. I had
planned to go larger, then decided,
after 2 years of hand sewing, it is
big enough and ready to be done.

I did do some other sewing this week,
but did not complete a project, so I
won't be counting any fabric towards
my stash busting project.

What are you working on today?

Snow...snow...snow!

A few feet of snow over the last couple of weeks
means staying inside for me.

I wish I could say I was sewing constantly, but
no, it hasn't been happening, I am struggling from
some seasonal depression,

Also my basement studio had an
window broken from the outside,
which made for a very cold sewing room.
My Husband has covered the window with insulation
foam and tape, and it is warmer, but not so much.

I have been staying upstairs hand stitching or knitting.

Today, I will be Slow Sunday Stitching on my
Trip Around the World quilt. I am working on
row 41, which is 144 squares (2 inches each). I
have about 40 squares to finish.

I am also beginning to keep track of my

Fabric used this week: 1.5 yards

It is a small start, but at least it is a start.

So many possibilities!

Welcome 2017

So many possibilities.

Some many adventures.

2016 was not a good year for myself,
or family or many friends.

2017 is going to be awesome!

First, I have taken the
"No purchasing of Fabric-Yarn" pledge.
I have so much that needs to be
used up and cleaned out.
I took the pledge back in 2012
and did quite well at sewing up
many quilts and clothing, I
can do it again!

Next, I have joined Judy's UFO
challenge at patchworktimes.com.
I made a list of 12 Christmas themed
projects I want to finish this year.

For January, Judy has chosen #3
on our UFO list. For me, that is
making a nativity for one of my
children.

This is the pattern I am using this year.
I love Nativities, especially
handmade ones.

Today, for my
Slow Sunday Stitching at
I will begin my
Nativity. Looking forward to
trying new stitches.

Third, I am also part of a
UFO challenge at
For January, they chose #6,
which is my
Spring Log Cabin Wreath project.
It will be nice to have it finished
this year, so I can display it
on my front door.

I am so excited for the
start of a new year.

How about you...what
are you working on?
