Antique and Yard Sale Treasures

Whenever we travel, my Husband and I

always like to stop at Antique stores

and occasionally, a yard sale.

We did a little shopping in Idaho

and when we got back home....

this is what we found.....

Bookstores are a financially dangerous

place for my family to be left unattended!

I found these 3 books to add to our music collection.

The far right: "Bananas in Pyjamas"

use to be a favorite TV show for my

youngest daughter 20 years ago.

More piano and guitar music books,

plus some needle arts books

(all 25 cents each)

I love linens and textiles!

These will probable go into a

basket quilt.

A girl can never have too many

beautiful hankies!

I purchased the gloves, hankie, table

runner and candle holders

in a wonderful shop in Logan (Utah)

I also have an incredibly generous

Sister in Law, who gave me not one,

but two boxes full of linens.

So nice!

I have lots of table clothes,

and hankies,

and towels,

and tea cloth,

and other lovely textiles

to hand wash this week!

ATC Swap

While I was gone on my Anniversary trip,

my package came for a ATC

(Artist Trading Card) swap.

I was the lucky receiver

of Tracey's beautiful creations!

30th Wedding Anniversary!

Wow...just typing those words...

How time flies.....

We took a trip up North into Idaho

to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary.

We stayed one night at the

Providence Inn in Providence, Utah

We stayed in the New Orleans room.

Very nice...especially the tub!

Dinner at the Beehive Grill in Logan, Utah.

Biggest teriyaki chicken sandwich I have ever seen!

Their home brewed root beer was really good too.

Onto Henry's Lake State park in Idaho.

We rented the same cabin as last year..

...the pelican cabin,

right next to the bird sanctuary.

We had a lovely time,

relaxing,

reading on the porch,

a little book and antique shopping,

cooking over a open fire.

It was a nice way to celebrate

30 years of marriage!

All babies should be warm and safe!

Crocheted baby hats everywhere!

These hats are going to Midwifery Of Guatemala

13 solid color hats and

11 colorful scrappy hats!

Volunteers are going at the end of June

and again in July, so if you would like,

you have time to contribute a few hats too.

Wool and cotton is recommended,

and bright colors are appreciated!

Macaroon Cookie recipe

I made this macaroon cookie recipe today.

So yummy!

Ingredients:
1 white cake mix
1 pint sherbet-softened (I used lemon)
2 tsp Almond extract
6 cups flaked coconut (14oz bag)

Mix dry cake mix, sherbet and extract. Mix in coconut. Drop by large spoonful (I used a small ice cream scoop) onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes...until cookie is light brown around the edges. Cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes...remove and cool completely on cooling rack. Changing the sherbet flavor will change the cookie taste and color. For plain macaroons, add 1 pint of vanilla ice cream in stead of the sherbet.

11 month old...keeping me on my toes!

Quilts and Hats

Nearly half the year has passed

and I am still crocheting hats!

I almost have the box filled with baby hats

for a group of Midwives in Guatemala.

 My granddaughter H.

 came to me with big old puppy eyes

and said her blanket had not made it thru

the last washer/dryer cycle.

This is the new pieced quilt top for her.

I need to add borders,

quilt it and it will be ready

for adventures with a 5 year old!

Lastly,

I decided to grab all my

little bits and pieces of yarn

and just use them up.

The result: crazy colored hat!

I may give it away in a

white elephant my crochet/knit group

is having in a couple of weeks.

Or...I may just keep it!
