Design Wall Monday

Happy Monday!

On my design wall today....

I have my star BOM from K and H Quilt Shoppe

The last block will be given out in July.

I will be finishing the quilt to be donated 

for the annual Safe Harbor auction. It

will be matched with a small white

Philippines stick tree, decorated in white and gold.

I have been knitting quite a bit lately. I am

knitting this shawl for a Christmas gift

It is the Alix's Lace Prayer shawl

by Debbie Macomber. It is available for

free from Ravelry.

I am hoping to finish our my art quilt that

will be shown this October at 

Eccles Community Art Center in Ogden, Utah.

I am not ready to show a completed 

photo yet....finished quilt to come....

My first knitting project

I have started knitting blocks for an afghan

but wanted to do something for fun too.

I am using Caron Simply Soft

in the color of persimmon.

The pattern was free at Ravelry.

It's called Sinful Ribbed Scarf

I think it will be a great scarf for the

end of Winter-wet Spring weather.

Question on knitting needles

I am a beginner knitter.

I have inherited and purchased various needles.

Which do you prefer to use?

Plastic...

Metal or....

Bamboo?

I have them all...........

I'm learning to knit!

I bought some super soft airy brown yarn

to use to learn to knit.

It didn't work..I kept

dropping stitches and pulling it out. I found this green yarn with little flecks

of grays in it

I cast on 90 stitches and am

knitting an entire skein in one stitch.

The first skein I just knitted everything.

The second skein I am pearling one row

then knitting the next row.

I think she has it!

Quite a while ago, I posted about trying to learn to knit.

This is my current project...a new scarf for me.
The photo doesn't show the beautiful green color,
with little flecked of brown, black and gray all thru it.
I liked this yarn so much I bought 5 skeins last year,
tho I didn't know what I was going to do with it.

I like the knit stitch, but am struggling with the purl stitch.

Art Festivals and yard sales...

....two things I love to attend with my family!

Today I went to the first annual Plain City (Utah) Art Festival with my hubby. Anyone who had a booth with items to sell had to provide items only handmade. I loved the photography and leather craft booths. My hubby got a kick out of this Cow welcoming us to the festival. We then headed out the the Weber County Fairgrounds where they were holding a huge, multi person yard sale. We were too late for it, unfortunately, but as we headed back towards the freeway, we saw a yard sale sign with lots of cars parked along the road. Of course, we stopped!

The family having the sale go to Estate and Lot sales year around, then resale the items individually in their huge garage. Wow, what a garage! I found a large box that I could see knitting needles and yarn sticking out of that was marked $2. It was the best $2 I have spent in a long time....

Plus these 9 sets of knitting needles, 2 sets of round needles, and assorted 2 point straight needles.

There was also quite an assortment of threads, needles, snaps, grommets, yarn, taffeta tape and other sewing things in the bottom of the box!

I think I got my money's worth!!!!!!
