I like,,,,

I like....

Home canned food

It is time of the year to can up all those
yummy garden goods. I need to do
some jam and tomatoes.

I like...

receiving old fashioned mail.
It is always a nice surprise when I
open the box and there is a package
or wedding invite waiting for me.

I like...

doing an 100 day project.

A 100 day project is concentrating on
one goal for  100 days, I usually do a
project during Summer between
Memorial and Labor Day, but
I am going to do a Fall weight loss
project...starting September 1st.

I like...

the changing Seasons. I grew up by
a warm weather beach where there was
no noticeable change of Season. Now,
the tree's change color....the snow falls...
bulbs break out of the ground
(sometimes through the snow)

I like....

I like rain
(without the Thunder)

And we have needed the moisture!

I like Back to School shopping

Even though we do not have a
student age child at home anymore,
I still can't resist purchasing
some pencils and a notebook...
or two....

I like organizing my yearly goals.

Most folks set goals or resolutions
with the new year in January.

I am married to a school teacher,
so our year starts in August!

I use the Bullet Journal method
to organize my life.
(Look it up on YouTube)

I like trying new recipes

My husband and I are part of a
Supper club. We meet every
other month for a themed dinner.
I have tried some new recipes
over the year.

Slow Sunday Stitching

I stopped by a yard sale yesterday.
An older lady had moved into a
Rest Home and her family was
cleaning out her house.

She was a knitter...

and a quilter....

and did embroidery.

I came home with a white table cloth

to cross stitch.

I came home with a gold table cloth

to cross stitch.

Finally, I came home with
packets of practice cloth

The embroidery squares were used to
teach guests at Stitchery parties
back in the 1980's.

I have about 140 little flower squares.
I am thinking about using them for
teaching others to stitch
or to make a themed art quilt.

Today, for my
Slow Sunday Stitching, I think
I will finish out one of my
UFO stitchery projects.

There are quite a few to choose from....

A side note...
Schools are starting this month for
most families across the U.S.A.
Please be aware, whether you have a
student or not, to be careful when
driving in school areas. My Husband
is a teacher (and coach) but also does
the Crossing Guard for his school
each morning. Do not multi task when
driving in school areas. Get off the phone,
do not eat, or have a pet in your arms.
It's not worth it.....EVER!

I like....

I like musicals!

The past few days, I have been sick.
A combo of flu-fever-smoky-air
kind of sick (fires thru out our state
and the surrounding states)

I have been staying inside knitting
and watching too many hours of
Netflix and YouTube.

I love musicals, so I watch some
clips and full movies I haven't
viewed before.

I've included a photo, plus the
dancer-singer name
of some of my all around favorites.
Click on their name to see a
dance number.

Vera Ellen

I wanted to dance like her when I first
saw her in "White Christmas". So
energetic and athletic, yet, such a lady!

Nicholas Brothers

Amazing in all they did with dance!
Defied gravity!

Debbie Reynolds

Debbie Reynolds, the all American girl.
I loved her in any show she performed in.

Donald O'Connor

If Debbie was THE girl, Donald was THE
boy in the sweetheart department. He made
dancing look so easy.

Gene Kelly

Mr. Kelly had it all, especially when you
put him with Debbie and Donald in my
favorite musical of all time,
 "Singing in the Rain".
I have worn out 2 video tapes of the movie,
and now have it on DVD.

So, as I still recover (and knit)
I will watch more musicals.

August UFO goal

For August, I want to sew the
BOM Star blocks together

Next...take to my quilter

Lastly, finish the binding on it.

The quilt will be part of a
Christmas Tree-Quilt package
for auction for the
in November.
