When did my baby grow up?

We celebrated our youngest child's

22nd birthday this week.

When did she grow up so fast?

Candyland Birthday party

My DIL has a combined birthday party

for both of my granddaughters each year.

Each year is a different theme

and the party-food-decoration are well done.

This year it was Candyland,

as in the child's board game.

She made cute decorations

representing the different candy's in the game.

She made treat bags with the

board game piece on the outside.

then had the kids decorate their own bag.

They kids played the game

and gathered up candy.

The table was decorated with all different kinds of candy.

My DIL's aunt decorates cakes

each year for the girls birthdays.

Unfortunately, the Candyland Castle

suffered a little in transit to the party.

Tho I'm sure no one complained when they ate it!

I told my DIL she should do this as a profession.

My son was just glad the party was over for another year.

My friend made a comment the other day

about how I must have all this spare time

now that my Husband and I are nearly empty Nester's.

Really? Hhhmmm....

I have a confession to make...

I like my kids,

and grand kids,

and all the noise,

and mayhem,

and mess...

So....

I babysit!

One morning a week I have my

oldest daughters children...

T, who is 3.5 years old and

his sister E, who is 5 months old.

My daughter is Super Woman, who

works a 40 plus hour week,

is finishing out her college degree

and is building a house all at the same time!

while her toddler takes a nap on her.

Very good multitasker!)

No changes because....

Newest Granddaughter born this last week,

who had a few health challenges

and ended up in the NICU

(Newborn Intensive Care Unit)

She is home and great now.

And I am completely enjoying her!

Goals for the week:

Just get back into a regular routine again!

Unfortunately, my sweet daughter V

birthday fell the day after her Dad's surgery

and her older sister's baby shower,

so she kind of got skipped over.

We made up for it tonight with dinner

and a cake of her choosing.

V is 8 months pregnant...only 4 more weeks!

Draper Utah Temple Open House

I got to spend some wonderful time with my family this last Saturday attending the public Open House of the Draper Utah Temple. For members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (also known as LDS or Mormons), Temples are a very important & sacred place for us.

This Temple is built high up in the hills above the city of Draper, which is south of Salt Lake in the Salt Lake Valley. The snow was pretty, but extremely cold!

The views are quite expansive from the Temple lot area. Here's Daughter V waiting for the bus that took us up to the Temple grounds. The Open House runs for about 6 weeks, which translates into about 60,000 people going through the tour

Saturday when we were there, the air over the Valley was a little hazy...not as clear as in this photo

After a ten minute introductory movie, we walked thru various parts of the Temple. Nothing is closed to the public before the Temple is actually dedicated. I loved the use of the Sego Lily flower throughout the building...it's the state flower of Utah. The windows of the dressing/restrooms even had log cabin patterned panes in them. Here are my kids who went...left to right...daughter V, daughter E holding baby Tayge & son-in-law B. Husband doesn't like his picture taken. Afterwards, you went back into a church building next to the Temple for refreshments & a visitng area where church members could answer any questions.

I am so glad I have the knowledge of the Gospel in my life, and that I know for sure that I can be together Forever with my family!
