Treasures from my vacation

I am having a difficult time with this new blogger program, so bear with me!

I found this fun cotton print and 99 cent
pattern for a grocery/shopping tote.
I have a few bags I use but decided it would be fun to
make a few more bags.
Here is the fabric I purchased
both in South Carolina and Utah to make
a memory quilt of our week on the beach.
First time I am going to have to add to my
fabric stash report this next Sunday!
The Borough-Chapin Art Museum of Myrtle Beach
had a wonderful exhibit of about 20 quilts
from the Gee Bend (Alabama) Quilters
We couldn't take photos so here are some of the
postcards showing the quilts.
Many were made with corduroy fabric
and had old feed sacks used for the backings.
All quilts were hand quilted too.
I liked the quilters version of a
log cabin block-
they call the pattern "Housetop"
Thanks to my SIL, Amanda, for going with me
to the quilt was great!

Giveaway news!

There is a great giveaway at
Something for!
Go check it out!

Home from vacation!

It's great to be home from vacation!
We spent the last week at my Hubby's family reunion
in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
It was great to play in the ocean,
layout in the sand, and
hang out at the pool with everyone!

The top photo is my daughter, her hubby
and my handsome grandson on the beach
in front of our beach house.
My son and Hubby are in front of them
out in the water.
The bottom photo is my toes in the sand!

I did visit a couple of fabric shops while there-
also a exhibit on Gee Bend (Alabama) Quilts....
Photos to follow!

Stashbusting Report

Nothing new...I'm on vacation in South Carolina.
I did bring some hand work with me,
but I'm having too much fun
searching for shells
and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean.

Very slow progress on Season Quilt

I've been working on my Season's Quilt again.
I would like to enter it in a quilt show outside of Utah within the next year, but my progress on it has been very slow.
The white square is where I am cross stitching
a sandcastle and water in the Summer section.

I'm learning to knit!

I bought some super soft airy brown yarn
to use to learn to knit.
It didn't work..I kept
dropping stitches and pulling it out. I found this green yarn with little flecks
of grays in it
(the photo doesn't do the color justice)
I cast on 90 stitches and am
knitting an entire skein in one stitch.
The first skein I just knitted everything.
The second skein I am pearling one row
then knitting the next row.

Memorial Day sewing

For Memorial Day, I decided to do some
service sewing in memory of
my Parents, who taught me
the importance of service in my daily life I finished out some more of the little
baby gowns that the hospitals give
parents who have lost a child at birth.
So small...
(The little sewing machine
is something I found at a
second hand store)
